Assessment, Consultation, & Expert Testimony

My Background
Timothy Shea, Psy.D. earned both his master’s degree and doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University (NSU) in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He also completed a post-doctoral master’s degree in clinical psychopharmacology from NSU. He completed his pre-doctoral training working with Veterans at the Dwight D. Eisenhower VA Medical Center located in Leavenworth, KS. and then completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in rehabilitation psychology and neuropsychology at the University of Michigan. His clinical work focused primarily on assessment and consultation for brain injury, neurological disorders, spinal cord injury, and chronic pain management.

Dr. Shea then joined the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at The Ohio State University (OSU) where he was an assistant professor and conducted clinically-based research. He provided assessment and consultative services at Dodd Rehabilitation Hospital for patients with polytrauma injuries, spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, and other neurologic conditions. While at OSU, Dr. Shea co-developed multiple treatment programs for patients with acquired head injuries and regularly presented his research at national and international conferences, in an effort to provide usable research findings to practicing clinicians.

Dr. Shea eventually relocated to Colorado where he specializes in psychological assessment for pain management, pre-surgical psychological assessments and neuropsychological assessment of concussions and moderate to severe brain injuries. He also provides medico-legal evaluation and consultation for concussion, brain injury, and other related diagnoses.

One of Dr. Shea’s clinical research interests is investigating the impact of psychological functioning on chronic pain management. He has also studied the impact of polypharmacy on cognitive functioning following neurological injury and explored posttraumatic seizures following traumatic brain injury.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Shea is an avid golfer, photographer, and sports enthusiast.
